Belmont on Broadway Window Design Statement
For this year’s Belmont on Broadway Window Decorating Contest, our team at Caroline and Main is proud to present a window that blends nostalgia, artistry, and the unstoppable spirit of modern feminism.
Our design was inspired by the iconic mid-century photo of women lining up at a racetrack betting booth—elegantly dressed, quietly confident, and very much present in a space traditionally dominated by men. While the original photo evokes vintage charm, our take reframes it through a contemporary lens: today’s woman doesn’t just show up—she wins, places, and does it all unapologetically.
At the heart of the window is a stunning, hand-painted recreation of the betting booth, brought to life by local artist Cathi Anne Cameron, whose work blends realism and emotion with every brushstroke. Her interpretation honors the aesthetic of the past while celebrating the boldness of today’s woman.
Each figure in the display was carefully styled to reflect the dynamic, multifaceted roles women play—whether they’re running businesses, running households, or running the show entirely. It’s a joyful homage to the strength, style, and solidarity of women who continue to shape Saratoga and beyond.
This window would not have been possible without the incredible collaboration of our creative team. From concept to execution, each detail—down to the last painted shadow—was a labor of love. We're deeply grateful to work with such talented individuals who believe in storytelling through design, and in honoring women through beauty, wit, and bold expression.
In celebrating Belmont in Saratoga, we’re also celebrating the women who make this town—and our businesses—thrive. We invite you to stop by, take it in, snap a photo, and remember: we’re all here not just to participate, but to place—and to show up fully, fiercely, and without apology.
